Residents of European Union Member States and countries associated with the Erasmus+ programme
Creating meaningful youth spaces today means much more than organising activities. Young people need environments where they feel they belong, think critically and are empowered to take an active role in their communities.
This raises an important question: how can youth workers intentionally design learning experiences that truly connect, inform and empower?
"Creating Youth Spaces that Connect, Inform & Empower" is a 7-day Erasmus+ training course bringing together 22 youth workers from EU Member States and Associated Countries to the Programme to strengthen their competences in designing inclusive learning environments, facilitating meaningful learning and empowering young people through participatory non-formal education.
Participants will explore innovative facilitation methods, exchange good practices, test and refine learning activities, and reflect on their application in diverse youth work contexts. Through practical workshops, experiential learning and peer exchange, they will gain practical tools they can immediately apply in their daily youth work.
Their contributions and experiences will also enrich a practical youth work resource, supporting quality learning experiences and the transfer of innovative non-formal education approaches beyond the training course.
Because every great learning experience starts with the space we create for young people.
O1: To strengthen youth workers' competences in designing psychologically safe, inclusive and participatory learning environments by applying intentional learning design, group dynamics and engagement strategies that foster trust, belonging and active participation among young people.
O2: To strengthen youth workers' competences in facilitating meaningful learning by applying Media and Information Literacy, dialogue facilitation, critical questioning and reflective debriefing methods that enable young people to critically evaluate information, exchange perspectives and make informed decisions.
O3: To strengthen youth workers' competences in designing participatory learning experiences that promote youth leadership, shared ownership and community action by enabling young people to actively participate in decision-making, initiate local actions and transfer their learning into their communities.
Learning Process
We learn through practice. Expect interactive sessions, teamwork, simulations, and real-case workshops, mixed with reflection and peer feedback.
Each day includes 4 sessions (90 minutes each), with two coffee breaks: one between Session 1 & 2, and another between Session 3 & 4. Meals follow a clear rhythm: breakfast from 08:00, lunch at 13:00, and dinner at 19:00.
The sessions will be active and content-rich—expect a strong mix of knowledge, practice, and participation—so you’ll leave with concrete tools and outcomes you can transfer directly into future youth work.
We are looking for motivated youth workers, trainers, facilitators, youth leaders, volunteers and project coordinators from European Union Member States and countries associated with the Erasmus+ Programme who are passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences for young people.
Whether you are an experienced youth worker or just starting your journey in youth work, this training course is for you. If you want to strengthen your facilitation competences, explore innovative non-formal education approaches, and learn how to intentionally design learning environments that connect, inform and empower young people, we would love to receive your application.
